We have had a lot of people ask us about Geothermal Heating and the benefits to switching to one of these systems. One of the biggest benefits is that Geothermal systems can save you a lot of money! Unfortunately it comes with pricey upfront cost. An average system can run you right around $20,000 for parts and installation preformed by a professional. Their is however a federal tax credit of 30 percent if you install a Geothermal system before December 31st, 2016. Another point to consider is that these systems are relatively maintenance free which will help you recoup the initial investment overtime. This of course goes along with the overall energy savings you will see for using Geothermal.
Look I understand most homeowner's can't afford the $20,000 price tag to change their heating system in this economy. You really need to understand it will save you money, but it may take a long time before you get back to the "break even point".
If you are building a new home you should definitely consider Geothermal over your basic (oil, propane, electric) run of the mill heating system. Still will cost you around the same price, but you can subtract the cost you would spend on another heating system.
So how does Geothermal work? Check out this great video we found on YouTube.
